This should be removed to force energy into bulb formation.
The cloves of hardneck varieties tend to be fatter and the bulb easier to pull apart than softneck garlic. By end of season corms should have developed into an onion looking bulb (a ‘round’) these can be eaten or keep to plant next season.

Season Two: Plant the round in May at 12” spacing in fertile soil, plants benefit from a good mulch, foliar feeding and good soil moisture. Snap off any flower scapes that develop. Harvest once the leaves turn yellow and dry. Either a large round or bulb should have developed, if bulbed, dry and keep intact until you want to eat or plant the cloves. If a large round, dry and either eat as you would any garlic or keep for planting again - a large round often develops into a very large bulb.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0623/6153/4673/files/image_66ae216b-3f94-495a-a71f-385636037d3f.jpg?v=1684445155
untitled-jan21_24-47
Garlic -Softneck

Softneck garlic - strong flavour, good keeper and beautiful clean purple striped bulbs.

Suitable for planting or cooking.

Large: Average diameter 50mm - 5+ cloves per bulb

Small: Average diameter 30mm 4+ cloves per bulb

price is per bulb

Grown in South Otago

Available Now!

sold as individual cloves in lots of 5 or 10

Allium ampeloprasum var. ampeloprasum

Elephant garlic is an excellent and easy crop to grow, it is very hardy and requires little to no effort.
